Royal squad in the arena. Just King review

The gameplay consists of semi-automatic arena battles in the roguelike genre.

There are currently three zones with different final bosses. They open sequentially when you overcome the previous location at least once. Progression when moving between large locations is not saved (with minor exceptions, but more on that below).

Upon closer examination, each large location is a branching tree of events, which in the final will lead us to the boss and if he is defeated, we move on to the next zone.

I noticed that the difficulty of getting to the boss from race to race can differ dramatically. The path may be clogged with elites, or it may consist almost exclusively of simple battles – depending on your luck.

On the way to the boss battle, we may come across several types of ordinary activities:

– Battle with normal opponents.

– Fight with elite enemies.

– Treasure Chest.

– Random text event with choice of behavior.

At the beginning we only have the king-commander and to help him we need to choose one from a randomly generated list of fighters (there are now 16 varieties in total). From this moment on, it’s worth considering a strategy for the development of the squad, since the number of moves to the boss is limited and you shouldn’t just lose them (moves).

The game has a very interesting squad formation system and, in fact, everything is built on it, so I’ll tell you about it first.

Our king can simultaneously https://viciwincasino.co.uk/bonus/ command four heroes, who can be pumped up within the race, equipped with items or exchanged for new ones.

Between activities (any point on the zone passage tree) we find ourselves in a store where fighters and equipment are sold. I really liked that all the properties of objects and warriors are carefully indicated in the descriptions.

The point is that to develop heroes you need to sacrifice other heroes to the altar in the store and receive the corresponding tokens. And the fighters in the squad will develop for them, so you need to carefully think through the composition of your group. Leveling up your heroes is extremely important; it will increase their characteristics (health, attack, healing, etc.).d. – there are many parameters), at the third (highest) level it will give a powerful ultimate, with each level the number of wearable items will increase (from 1 to 3), which can influence the course of battles.

Each of the 16 types of heroes has two characteristics – these are the tokens that can be fed to him. If there are several warriors in the group with the same characteristics, this will give synergy and strong passive buffs (they can be seen in the screenshot below on the left, the strength of the synergy is indicated by dots from 1 to 4, detailed descriptions of the received powers are also available).

Sooner rather than later, a battle awaits us and its process is quite entertaining. The originality lies in the fact that we don’t just put fighters in slots, but place them in a battle formation around the king (if he dies, then it’s a loss). We run with the king (WASD), and around him in the form of a square there are warriors, and they can turn in the direction of the direction with the mouse accordingly. You need to position your assistants as efficiently as possible relative to each other.

It turns out to be a kind of twin-stick shooter, only we have four “guns” with different properties. Warriors attack or cast their skills automatically, our job is only to run and direct the formation towards the enemies.

There are three types of battles in the game: regular, with elites, with bosses.

There are many types of enemies, they can be melee, mages, archers, summoners, or have a combination of these properties.

There are only three types of bosses so far, but they are very severe.

If a hero (not a king) dies in battle, but the level is completed, then our unit is resurrected with full health, so it is important to win battles one way or another.

These boosters appear randomly on the battlefield. It’s worth collecting them whenever possible.

Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize.

+ Simple but nice graphics.

+ Good music and sound.

+ Excellent and, one might even say, original system of combat formation of units.

+ A good system for developing and equipping fighters between missions.

+ Short but dynamic battles.

+ Convenient (once you figure out how to set up a formation in battle) controls.

THINGS THAT CAN BE BOTH A PLUS AND A MINUS:

+- The game states that there is permanent progression – for completing challenges in the store, new types of weapons and equipment are unlocked. This is true, but personally I somehow don’t really associate it with roglite, since in any case we start each race from a certain starting point. In my opinion, this is still a roguelike with roglite elements.

– There is no Russian localization of at least the text.

– Small amount of content. With a successful combination of circumstances, the zone can be covered in 20 minutes. Zone three.

A small but enjoyable game with semi-automatic combat about battles in arenas, the formation and development of squads.

PS: I probably didn’t cover all the aspects, I might have missed something. I will be glad to add/correct the review or answer questions along the way in the comments.
